MISSION STATEMENT:
" To provide financial, medical and logistical support and aid to families who have been victimized by famine, poverty, disease, disaster and civil unrest at home and throughout the African continent."
Nubian Villages Organization, also known as Bendoo Village Organization was created as a Non-Profit Organization to help sustain the villages in Liberia, West Africa. Liberia is currently in a peaceful reconstructive period after years of civil war. More than 250,000 people were killed and the indigenous people were the most severely impacted. They are the forgotten backbone of Africa. Since the civil war ended in 2003, most people upon moving back to their villages, found out they had to rebuild without any income. Most villages have had to deal with high illiteracy rates and the average life expectancy is 16 years. One of the most critical issues facing the region as a whole is the severe lack of health care facilities. As a result, for expectant mothers, the only option is to self-deliver their own babies. This has led to high rates of eclampsia, herrmorrhaging and sometimes death during and after child birth by these women. Families sometimes have had to give children away because they could not care for them.
The lack of education, social services, jobs and job training, health care and the subsistence level of living means the area remains devastated. These critical needs are what this organization intends to provide to these villages.
Fundraising would always remain a challenge, however we are open to being supported by any charities and organizations. Nubian Villages Organization hopes to bring hope and prosperity to the lives of these villagers. Please visit our photo gallery and video pages for images and video from Liberia.
